Labor Shortage for Polish Apple Season Due to Russia-Ukraine War

Polish apple producers are concerned about the availability and cost of labor for the 2022 harvest season which is expected to start in September. Ukrainian men had to return home to fight in the Russia-Ukraine war and are not available to harvest apples this year. This could cause a lack of sufficient labor to finish the harvest in a timely manner. Labor is also likely to be more expensive for the 2022 season due to the shortage, contributing to already skyrocketing production costs.
