Since 2015, the year of the liberalization of the dairy industry in Spain, the number of heads in the country has seen a 35% increase. All regions except for Extremadura have seen a dramatic increase in the number of milking cows and the trend seems to keep growing.
Prices have also seen a decrease nationwide and this has put pressure on small producers, however, productivity is key to maintaining healthy margins.
