The Paraguayan supply market importers point out that the tomato rose in price because the national production of tomato does not cover even 40% of the demand and they request that the purchase of Argentine and Brazilian products be re-enabled to regulate the price. On the other hand, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) indicates that, for the moment, the Paraguayan tomato is still capable of supplying the domestic market. According to the Association of Importers and Traders of the Supply Market, the final consumer is currently paying between 13K and 14K Guaranies/kilo, a price that could be reduced to even 6.5K Guaranies/kilo if the phytosanitary import accreditation is granted again.
