The last week of March is the final period for the sesame sowing stage in Brazil. In fact, farmers would rather have planted it earlier, but the delay in soybean harvest caused by the excess of rains during the harvesting stage in Canarana - the main sesame hub - has left them with a very short window time frame. Sesame is considered a crop rotation option for the soybean farmers from that region. It is planted right after the soybean harvest and must have a short enough cycle to allow time for the 60 days of sanitary vacuum before the soybean sowing begins in October.
