The confectionery industry expects to increase sales by up to 4% this Christmas compared to last year, with "positive" forecasts despite the rise in raw materials such as cocoa and eggs, without the sector passing on this increase to the consumer as it is a campaign planned months in advance. This was assured to Efeagro by Rubén Moreno, the secretary general of the Spanish Confectionery Association (Produlce), who detailed that the forecasts for this Christmas campaign point to growth in line with that recorded last year. According to Produlce data, the consumption of nougats and marzipans in Spain during this period represents approximately 80% of the total, with 290 million euros registered in 2024. "In the sector we are reasonably optimistic, because despite the context of spending restraint by consumers, there is still a strong emotional bond with Christmas sweets and their role in family celebrations," he specified.
