Tanzanian farmers agreed to sell 607MT of standard-grade raw cashew nuts at the 12th auction conducted by the Tandahimba and Newala Districts Cooperative Union (TANECU) in Newala. The highest bid price was USD 0.71/kg (Tshs 1,651) and the lowest bid offer was USD 0.71/kg (Tshs 1,650). A total of six companies participated in this auction at TANECU and farmers insisted to continue to control the quality of cashews especially in this rainy season by drying them well before putting them up for auction. High moisture content has been a problem at the latest auctions as reported by buyers.
