Extremadura, the primary production region for plums in Spain, has been concerned about droughts for the 2023 season. Growers were considering providing the trees enough water to survive but not producing any fruit to get through this dry period. The reservoir capacity in Extremadura has declined over the past four months, reaching critical levels of 32%. Fortunately, the rains over the last two weeks of 2022 have improved the outlook. The region's reservoirs level in the first weeks of 2023 stood at 53% capacity, which puts producers in a good position about water supply for the 2023 season.
