On April 1, 2021, the Chinese official immediately closed the border city (Ruili) due to the second wave of COVID-19 found in the city. The Chinese official said that the virus was spread from the Myanmar side and needed to control the people flow. Thus it affects the regular trading process between Myanmar and China. Products like watermelon, pineapple, and rice are delayed entering the Chinese border.
