Total Export Sales of Watermelon from Spain Increasing for the Past Three Years

Germany reduced its purchasing volume of watermelon over the past 3 years, representing a drop of 11.5%, going from 377.1 million/kg in 2019 to 335.43 million/kg in 2021.
The total amount of export sales was, however, increased reaching 996,61 million/kg in 2021. The loss from Germany was highly compensated by an increase in purchasing volume from other countries: France, the United Kingdom, Poland, The Netherlands, Sweden, and the Czech Republic.
This season, the limit to export sales is being set up by Mother Nature, as Germany is facing a general lack of produce, at least for early varieties, in Almería and Murcia regions, accounting for 73% of the national production.
