Fresh fig exports from Turkey started at the beginning of August with the purchase price between USD 1.64-2.19/kg in the first weeks. However, prices dropped by 50% within 3 weeks because the expected demand from Europe did materialise. As of W36, figs are bought for USD 0.55-0.82/kg. Turkish fig producers are not satisfied with the prices and have stopped picking in the hopes that the price will rise due to decreased supply.
