Tamil Nadu's delta districts have seen significant crop damage due to heavy rainfall, with 1.5 lakh acres of standing crop submerged. Chief Minister MK Stalin has formed a team of ministers to evaluate the damage and provide relief assistance to the affected population. The team will ensure the provision of essentials like food and medicine and provide relief to farmers who have lost crops above 33 percent. The Cauvery Delta Zone, a major agricultural area, has seen significant cultivation of rice, pulses, and horticultural crops, with some areas also growing bananas, sugarcane, and other annuals. The delta region also hosts coconut gardens, bamboo, and wood lots, and is known for its diverse flora and fauna.
