Gyeonggi Province has released 90,000 crucian carp fry and 500,000 snails into rivers and streams across eight cities and counties from September 9 to 11. This initiative aims to protect the inland water ecosystem and boost fishermen's income. The high-quality seeds, produced by the Gyeonggi Province Marine and Fisheries Resources Research Institute, have passed infectious disease tests. Crucian carp, a popular freshwater fish in Korea, can grow up to 40 cm and is considered a health food. The snails, which are a significant income source for inland fishermen, help purify water by consuming organic matter and moss.
