The Volgograd region has seen a significant increase in mustard oilseed exports, with a doubling of the volume compared to the previous year, reaching 6.8 thousand tons over 10 months in 2021. These exports have been conducted with quality certificates that meet both Russian and European standards. However, two batches of mustard seeds were identified to have exceeded the permissible limit for cadmium content. The region, known as the homeland of mustard, has set new records in mustard yield and harvest, with the Ilovlinsky and Oktyabrsky regions contributing significantly to this achievement. Mustard is recognized for its benefits in improving soil fertility and serving as a good precursor for other crops.
