85% of consumers believe that taking action against food waste is a criterion when choosing a restaurant, while 41% would change establishments if they know that it develops active policies against this scourge. This is one of the main conclusions of the report "The commitment of the restaurant sector to food waste: a consumer perspective," presented this Thursday by the platform Too Good To Go and for which more than 11,000 Spanish consumers were interviewed. At the presentation, the Secretary General of Agrarian Resources and Food Safety of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA), Ana Rodríguez, highlighted that spending in the restaurant sector has increased in volume but not in value, which shows an increase in awareness about what is eaten outside.
