The Russian Ministry of Agriculture has imposed restrictions on the catch of vobla and roach, including industrial fishing, until the end of 2023. The move comes as the roach fishery stock is close to the critical threshold of 20 thousand tons, with a high probability of losing the ability to self-repair. The order sets a minimum volume of roach fishing in industrial fishing and bans recreational fishing for roach. A daily quota for catching roach for recreational fishing has also been established. The ban also includes the industrial catch of roach in all water bodies of fishery significance in certain regions.
