Iran is facing a severe drought, leading to a surge in the price of non-governmental livestock feed inputs like alfalfa, straw, and barley. The high cost of these inputs has increased the expense for light livestock farmers, who already spend over 60,000 Tomans per kilogram. The situation is worsened by discrimination in the distribution of livestock inputs and lack of support for light livestock farmers, who are forced to sell lean livestock due to the financial strain. Judge Afshin Sadr has proposed a solution involving the purchase of lean livestock from drought-stricken provinces for fattening in areas less affected by drought, aiming to alleviate the farmers' financial burden and ensure the sustainability of the light livestock industry.
