At a national level, honey production per capita is 1.415 kilograms, with around 155,000 people employed in the sector. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization ranks Iran as the third-largest honey producer in the world. The Animal Science Research Institute in Iran is advocating for a increase in honey production per colony, citing the diversity of plants and pasture areas in the country. Additionally, the institute has reported the annual production of various bee products such as royal jelly, pollen, beeswax, propolis, and bee venom.
