Belarus is planning to modernize and build 450 dairy farms by 2027, as directed by the head of state, aiming to transfer the entire dairy herd to modern housing technologies. This announcement was made by Ivan Smilgin, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, during a national seminar that reported a steady growth in milk production, with an increase in the average milk yield and productivity of the dairy herd. As of October 1, Belarus had 107.9% staffing on its dairy farms, and by 2024, it aims to produce over 8.5 million tons of milk. The country also sees an increase in cattle production and average daily weight gain, with efforts to improve forage procurement and maintenance of high grass feed levels.
