Açaí, a Brazilian superfood originating from the Amazon region, is renowned for its nutritional benefits and is primarily produced in the state of Pará, accounting for 95% of Brazil's production. A new farming method has been developed for açaí, allowing for more control and precision, as opposed to the traditional native method. This method, developed by producer Realdo Spanholi, involves planting the seedlings at specific distances and using a handcrafted seedling planter. The cultivated açaí is then sold in 28 kg bags in Pará and also exported to other states and countries like the United States and Japan. The demand for Brazilian açaí is on the rise, with an increase of 15% each year, particularly in the Southeast region.
