The West African Food Systems Resilience Programme (FSRP), a World Bank project, has been commended by the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, for meeting its poultry production timeline. The FSRP has initiated the 'FSRP Chicken Road Show' at the National Farmers Day Exhibition, where it has distributed 1000 to 2000 hygienic, nutritious chickens for public sampling. The scheme, funded by a US$12.5m grant from the World Bank, aims to increase Ghana's current 5% poultry production to 12% in five years through the Poultry Intensification Scheme (PIS). This scheme provides support to commercial anchor farmers and smallholders to produce, process, and market two million birds annually.
