Argentina is no longer alone in the global corn trade; the progress of the U.S. harvest, estimated at 25%, is beginning to generate strong demand from exporters in that country. Additionally, Ukraine's corn harvest is well underway, reaching 50%, and Brazil has lifted the largest corn harvest (safrinha) in history. All this is causing a shift in demand for the cereal towards the three main exporters – U.S., Brazil, and Ukraine – with the consequent drop in shipments in our country. In August, 2.5 million tons were shipped, a decrease of 1.39 million compared to the 3.93 million tons exported in the previous month, July. In September, 1.8 million tons of the cereal were shipped, according to maritime agency Nabasa, the lowest in eight years. From March to September, a total of 21.4 million tons of corn were exported, 10% less than the same period last year.
