(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Yoon-gu = Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Song Mi-ryeong forecast on the 3rd that "the apple shipment volume in December will increase above last year's level, and the price will also stabilize."
Minister Song visited the fruit distribution center (APC) of the Daegu Apple Horticultural Farmers Association in Maseong-myeon, Mungyeong-si, Gyeongbuk Province, on the same day, checked the selection and storage situation of the 2025 apples, and said, "The volume that could not be shipped in November due to delayed coloring will be shipped in December."
According to the consumer price trend for November announced by the National Data Agency the previous day, the consumer price of apples last month rose by 21.0% compared to the same month last year.
The Korea Rural Economic Institute analyzed that the rise in apple prices was due to the delay in the Fuji harvest last month, which reduced the volume of apple imports by about 12% compared to last year.
The Rural Economic Institute forecast that this year's apple storage volume (shipment from December to July of next year) will be around 230,000 tons, similar to last year, and expects stable supply and demand of apples in the first half of next year.
The shipment volume of apples this month is expected to increase by about 2% compared to last year, reaching 39,000 tons.
