The Agrária Foundation for Agricultural Research and Biotrigo Genética have announced the launch of Biotrigo Weiss, the first wheat cultivar developed in Brazil for the production of malt. This cultivar meets the necessary specifications for the brewing industry, such as low protein content and high extract yield. Although it has the seal of Agrária Malte for brewing input, Biotrigo Weiss is not yet available on the market, but seed crops have been planted this year and cereal production on a large scale is expected by 2025.
