Agrobiodiversity zones of Cusco and Puno are recognized as global conservation areas.

The Agrobiodiversity Zones (ZABD) of Ccollasuyo and Marcapata-Ccollana, in Cusco, as well as the Terraces of Cuyocuyo, in Puno, have been reported as Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECM), becoming a regional reference in the articulation between biodiversity conservation, food security, and sustainable management of agrobiodiversity, in coherence with the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the global 30×30 target of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The recognition of these Agrobiodiversity Zones (ZABD) as OECM has been possible thanks to an articulated work with the Ministry of the Environment (Minam), as well as the valuable support of international cooperation, in particular from the German International Cooperation Agency – GIZ and the Wildlife Conservation Society – WCS.
