The agricultural association ASAJA-Palencia is warning livestock farmers in Spain for increased vigilance against the Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHE) following three new outbreaks in the provinces of Guadalajara, Orense, and Salamanca. Caused by mosquito bites, EHE affects domestic and wild ruminants, often leading to severe conditions and death in cattle. As temperatures rise, the association recommends disinfestation of facilities and transport with authorized products and advises farmers to report any symptoms to their veterinary service. The Ministry of Agriculture has implemented a new protocol for confirming and managing new EHE cases in Castilla y León, with the owner of the farm receiving a report to prove the necessary reporting of the disease to the authorities.
