The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has activated a food alert due to the presence of contaminants of the type tropane alkaloids in popcorn corn from Argentina from the brands "The Italian Food Shop", "Veggy Duck", and "Easy Vibes", from various lots and best before dates. The agency has not detailed in which autonomous communities the products would have been put on sale but has transferred the information to the autonomous communities through the Coordinated Rapid Information Exchange System (SCIRI) in order to verify the withdrawal of the affected products from the marketing channels. Specifically, lot 171/25 of the "popping corn" product from the brand "The Italian Food Shop", with a best before date of 31.12.2026 and sold in 500-gram units, is affected.
