Algeria has recently approved the import of six types of grains and legumes, including seeds, from five Russian producers: Rusagro Group of Companies, AST, OZK Trading, Bio-Ton, and GTCS, as announced by the Algerian Grain Committee (OAIC). This decision, which follows a competitive selection process in line with Algeria's import laws favoring closed tenders, is seen as a significant step in enhancing the direct supply of Russian agricultural products to Algeria. Algeria, a major global grain importer and key buyer of Russian wheat, aims to make the supply process more transparent and efficient with this move. This development builds on the previous agricultural year's exports from Russia to Algeria, which totaled 2.15 million tons of grain, including 1.75 million tons of wheat, and is highlighted as a successful outcome of 'grain diplomacy' by the Russian Union of Grain Exporters.
