The Algerian state grain agency OAIC purchased around 500,000 tons of food wheat in an international tender that concluded on Tuesday, European traders reported. Purchases were reported at prices of around $259, $260, and $261 per ton, including cost and freight (C&F), they said. The tonnage volume of the purchase is still being discussed, but initial estimates ranged from 460,000 to 500,000 tons. Most traders cited an amount of around 500,000 tons, but some estimates on Tuesday evening reached up to 600,000–690,000 tons. The origin of the purchase is optional, but it is expected to be mainly sourced from the Black Sea region, including Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, and other countries, traders reported.
