Algeria, in collaboration with the EU, inaugurates its first laboratory specialized in olive growing

Oil/File (Photo Magrama)Algeria, in collaboration with the European Union, inaugurated this Wednesday its first laboratory specialized in olive growing, in the olive-growing region of Kabylia, as part of the national Agriculture Support Program (PASA) to modernize the olive oil production chain. The Takrietz Olive Oil Analysis Laboratory (in the city of Béjaia) "offers a new complete and efficient structure at the service of millers, the olive profession and the promotion of the olive economy in Algeria," the EU, which has contributed some six million euros, explained in a statement. "Thanks to the activities carried out in collaboration with Algerian partners we have been able to train a significant number of actors in the sector and we hope to contribute to a significant improvement in the quality of Algerian oil to give it better export prospects," according to the EU ambassador in Algeria, Thomas Eckert.
