In June 2021, the FSBI "NCBRP" identified 36 cases of supply of unsafe aquatic products to leading consumer markets, including the EU, China, USA, and Japan, marking a 7 case increase from May. The majority of these cases involved products with microbiological abnormalities, such as Salmonella and Escherichia coli. Additionally, products with excess chemical and toxicological indicators were also detected. The most common sources of these unsafe products were Thailand and Vietnam, with 8 and 5 cases respectively, followed by Spain, the United States, Morocco, Portugal, the Philippines, and South Korea. The issues were most frequently found in frozen raw fish and shellfish.
