The article highlights the difficulties faced by Turkey's anchovy export industry in the second quarter of the current year, with export figures failing to meet targets despite a total of 1.77 million US dollars worth of anchovies being exported to 18 countries in the first two months of the year. The main issue is the small size of the anchovy, which has resulted in a fishing ban and a decrease in yield. Factors such as drought and unnecessary massacres of marine life have further impacted the industry. In the same period of the previous year, 1.63 million US dollars was earned for 540,000 kilograms of anchovies exported. Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Deputy Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, emphasized the need for compliance with prohibitions to protect natural wealth and discussed the effects of drought on anchovy populations.
