Another record of fresh strawberry imports to Poland

For the first 5 months of 2023, 23.8 thousand tons of fresh strawberries were imported to Poland. This is almost 1.5 thousand tons more than a year ago. Why are we only dealing with the period January - May? Because at this time, more than 90% of the total annual import of fresh strawberries is imported into the country every year. In addition, in June it is so small that it usually has no or negligible impact on the domestic market. As we can see in the chart below, this year we set another record in the import of fresh strawberries. As in previous seasons, the largest supplier was Greece. For years, we have seen a systematic increase in the import of fresh strawberries. This trend can be clearly seen in the same chart. It is impossible to assess today whether the volumes imported this season are peaks in relation to spring consumption or whether next year we will record further increases.
