The World Apple Association and La Pera (WAPA) have forecasted an 8% increase in apple exports from the southern hemisphere, including countries like Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, New Zealand, and South Africa, by 2024. This increase, reaching 1.55 million tons, is attributed to a 1.1% rise in production. South Africa and Chile, the main exporters, are expected to see a 5% increase in exports, while Argentina and Brazil may experience a decline. The Gala variety is the most produced apple in these regions. Conversely, pear production is predicted to drop by 2.3% to 1.46 million tons, with exports remaining stable at approximately 654,000 tons.
