The Amik Plain in Hatay, known for its fertility, has seen a rise in stone fruit planting, particularly apricot trees. Despite the challenges of hot weather and earthquakes, the apricot harvest has commenced, with the fruit being collected and sent for processing before distribution to both domestic and international markets, including England, Romania, and the Middle East. Hamit Karadeniz, an agricultural engineer and apricot producer, mentioned that the harvest is expected to last 15 days and that the industry faces low prices despite high production costs.
