Argentina's National Service of Agrifood Health and Quality (Senasa) has approved the export of 685 tons of dehydrated alfalfa from Santiago del Estero to China. The shipment, contained in 22 containers, was sent from the Port of Buenos Aires and will be delivered to Chinese ports including Huangpu, Qingdao, Dalian, and Xingang. Senasa confirmed that the alfalfa is free of insects, microorganisms, and weeds, meeting China's phytosanitary standards. This marks the beginning of alfalfa exports from Santiago del Estero to China, with the potential to expand the planting area for the product. In 2021, Senasa exported 70,918 tons of alfalfa bales to various countries, with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates being the main recipients.
