The Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Meat and Derivatives of Argentina (CICCRA) has reported a 12.4% year-on-year decrease in beef consumption per capital, with the twelve-month moving average dropping to 47 kilos per inhabitant by November 2024. This represents the lowest consumption record in the last 22 years. Domestic beef consumption was down 10.1% in October 2024, at 2,038 million tons. Slaughter numbers also decreased by 5.7% in the first eleven months of the year. Despite the domestic consumption decline, beef exports saw a 39.8% increase in October 2024, largely driven by China, with other significant contributors being Israel, the USA, Mexico, and Germany.
