As the fifth day of the fifth lunar month approaches, the export season for rice dumplings enters its golden period. According to Gongbei Customs statistics, since May, Zhongshan Customs has supervised and released 4.6 tons of rice dumplings for supply to Hong Kong and Macau, representing a 281% quarter-on-quarter increase.
Recently, at Zhongshan Mingyue Food Company's food processing workshop, various ingredients are wrapped and shaped by skilled workers, steamed and freshly processed, then cooled and vacuum-packed by machines before being neatly stacked.
"Over half of our supplies to Macau are traditional reed leaf rice dumplings and bean paste rice dumplings," the company's General Manager Deng Shikun explained on-site. "These rice dumplings use carefully selected ingredients and have a shelf life of only 15 days. If we can increase our shipping speed, we can secure a place in the Hong Kong and Macau consumer markets."
To support enterprise development, Zhongshan Customs has launched "one enterprise, one strategy" precise assistance, ensuring quality control, smoothing export pathways, and enhancing product competitiveness.
"We proactively grasp enterprises' export plans, strengthen quality management of raw materials like glutinous rice, pork, salted egg yolks, sugar oil, and additives, establishing a full-chain monitoring system from 'field to workshop to table'," explained Li Yingzhi, deputy section chief of the Shiqi Office's inspection section. Customs has tailored supervision measures, opened "green channels", implemented "advance inspection appointments", shortened customs clearance times, and ensured rice dumplings can pass through "fresh and high-quality" before the festival enters the Hong Kong and Macau markets. Since the beginning of this year, 9.4 tons of rice dumplings have been inspected and released by Zhongshan Customs for supply to Hong Kong and Macau, with a value of approximately 670,000 yuan.
