The Dominican Republic has imposed a ban on the movement of live and slaughtered pigs in Sánchez Ramírez and Monte Cristi provinces due to an outbreak of African Swine Fever, as confirmed by tests on samples from Dominican hogs. The ministry will implement total military control and disinfection in these areas. The outbreak has prompted warnings from the Middle American International Regional Organization for Agricultural Health (OIRSA) to other Central American and Mexican countries to adopt preventive measures. Panama is also increasing surveillance at its borders and ports of entry from the Dominican Republic.
