As of July 28, 2022, Russia has harvested about 20.7 thousand tons of watermelons and other gourds, with an annual production volume varying from 1.5 to 1.9 million tons. The Astrakhan region is the leading contributor to melon production in Russia, accounting for nearly half of the total. The Ministry of Agriculture forecasts a harvest not lower than the long-term average this year, attributed to improving cultivation technologies. Other regions contributing significantly to Russia's melon production include Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, Volgograd, Orenburg, Saratov, Rostov, Voronezh Regions, and the Chechen Republic, and the Republics of Dagestan and Crimea.
