In February, Australia saw a significant increase in its agricultural exports, with nearly 1 million tons of barley and 60 thousand tons of sorghum being exported, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics as reported by Grain Central. The country exported 913.8 thousand tons of fodder barley, a five-fold increase from the previous month, and 41.9 thousand tons of malting barley. Sorghum exports also saw an increase, reaching 60.6 thousand tons. The main recipients of feed barley were Saudi Arabia, Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam, while China was the largest importer of Australian sorghum. This occurs against a backdrop of improving relations between China and Australia, leading to expectations of a rise in barley shipments to China in the coming months.
