In 2023, Australia saw a significant increase in its meat exports, reaching record levels. The main market was China, with lamb and mutton exports increasing by 30% and 70% respectively. There was also substantial growth in exports to the Middle East and North Africa. Beef exports rose by 27%, with the US accounting for half of this increase. Despite a decrease in volume, Japan remained the second largest market. There were also increases in exports to China and South Korea, and Indonesia emerged as the fifth largest market.
