The retail price of Australian tangerines in Ho Chi Minh City has significantly dropped this year, with prices ranging from 90,000 to 120,000 VND per kg, half the price from last year. Some online stores are even selling them as low as 50,000 VND a kg. However, consumers are warned to buy from reputable sources as the low prices often indicate poor quality. The surge in supply and competition from Chinese products with similar qualities have contributed to the price drop. Imported since 2017, Australian tangerines are known for their sweetness, less fiber, thin skin, and distinct aroma, making them popular despite the price drop.
