In Dalen near Coevorden, bird flu has been detected at a laying hen farm. To prevent the spread of the virus, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security, and Nature has decided to have the approximately 15,000 chickens on the site culled by the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority. Within the 3-kilometer zone, there is one poultry farm, but it is currently empty because it was culled due to a previous bird flu infection. In the 10-kilometer zone, there are 8 other poultry farms.
