In the early months of this year, Azerbaijan has experienced a significant increase in meat product imports, with an 11.7 percent rise in volume to 8,180 tons and a 45.4 percent surge in value to $17.442 million. This growth is driven by factors such as population growth, diverse consumer preferences, economic challenges in local meat production, and adverse climatic conditions. The increased imports, especially of lamb and other popular meats, not only cater to the rising demand but also escalate competition between local and foreign meat producers. This situation underscores the necessity for enhanced support for domestic producers, including subsidies, tax benefits, and other supportive measures to bolster the local meat production industry.
