In the first two months of 2023, Russia saw a 4.9% increase in meat production, reaching 1.5 million tons. This growth was contributed by various agricultural organizations, with poultry meat being the dominant type at a 52% share. Despite this, the number of cattle in the country decreased by 1% compared to the previous year. Beef production within agricultural organizations also saw a slight increase of 1.1% from the previous year, but beef exports to non-CIS countries fell by 29%. Additionally, the average wholesale prices for half-carcasses of cattle rose by 22% over the same period.
