REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The government swiftly acted on reports of 250 tons of illegal rice entering through Sabang Port, Aceh. Minister of Agriculture and Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Andi Amran Sulaiman confirmed that before the sealing process was carried out by authorities, he had coordinated directly with Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf to ensure that enforcement measures were solid and coordinated. Minister Amran explained that initial reports indicated the illegal entry of imported rice without government permits. This action contradicts the policy of President Prabowo Subianto, who stated that Indonesia does not need rice imports because the national stock is at its best position in history.
