In 2023, Kazakhstan's sunflower crop acreage will increase by nearly 60 thousand hectares, driven by high profitability, drought resistance, and strong domestic demand. The National Association of Oilseed Processors of Kazakhstan (NAPMK) reports a record 1.21 million hectares sown, with significant growth in regions like East Kazakhstan, Abay, and Pavlodar. State measures, including export duties and quotas, have boosted domestic processing and stabilized sunflower oil prices. Despite global prices influencing domestic purchase prices, high local demand and underutilized creameries have led to rising raw material prices, prompting farmers to shift from grain to more profitable oilseeds to avoid financial instability.
