The Chairman of the Turkish Butchers Federation, Osman Yardımcı, has expressed concerns over the sale of meat of unknown origin in trucks, emphasizing that consumers should purchase meat from neighborhood butchers, who ensure the animals have invoices and health reports. Yardımcı warned that businesses should avoid purchasing cheap meat to cut costs and urged butchers to report any suspicious activities.
Ali Manavoğlu, Chairman of the Antalya Branch of the Chamber of Food Engineers, highlighted the health risks associated with the consumption of meat from animals slaughtered, preserved, and processed without adhering to hygiene rules. He warned that under-the-counter meat products could potentially harbor harmful microorganisms like salmonella, escherichia coli, listeria, and campylobacter, posing a serious health threat, especially to individuals with low immunity.
