The South Korean government is taking steps to prevent the illegal import of frozen jujubes from China by setting new product classification standards. The recent amendment to the "Rules on the Application Standards for Classification of Items under Article 85 of the Customs Act" has been in effect since January 1, and now requires that frozen jujubes have a tariff of only 30% if the inside is completely frozen and the water content is at least 65/100 of its total weight. If not, they are classified as dried jujubes with a tariff of 611.5%. This measure is in response to concerns about illegal distribution and demands from the agricultural industry. There are also calls for including frozen jujubes in the 'distribution history management for imported agricultural products and processed products' to reduce the possibility of illegality in the customs clearance process.
