Bolivia's livestock sector saw a slight growth of 3.9% in 2024, according to Walter Ruiz, president of the Federation of Cattle Ranchers of Santa Cruz (Fegasacruz). However, Ruiz expressed concern over the government's policies, which he believes are discouraging investment and growth. The sector is seeking approval for a seven-year pause in the Social Economic Function (FES) to provide legal security for producers. In 2025, the sector plans to promote a law that expands penalties for cattle rustling and facilitate the conversion of small properties into medium-sized ones. The sector is also looking to expand export quotas to bring in more foreign currency. A delegation from Egypt inspected meat packing plants with the possibility of expanding meat exports to that country.
